I caved....

I've now fallen into the same category as every 13-year-old girl in America. Why? Because I totally got sucked into the Twilight craze. My friend Jenny read the books and watched the movie and raved about how good the books were. I like to read, but I didn't really want to read a series of books aimed for teens and pre-teens.

Last Thursday, my roommate brought home Twilight on D.V.D. and since I'm not one to turn down a movie, I decided to watch it. The movie was decent but EVERYONE I talked to said they liked the book so much better. On the bright side though, some of the music in the movie wasn't terrible and the movie closes with a Radiohead song. Radiohead = one of my faves!
On Saturday I went to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things and noticed that the paperback version of the book was only $6 bucks. I decided why the heck not?

Fastforward to bedtime last night and in a little more than a days time I read 375 pages. Yeah, I've become that girl! Is it sad that I'm ready to finish this one and move onto the next??

Best Concert Experience Ever!

A few days ago my good friend from back home sent me a youtube video about a touring band performing in Lubbock who is classified as a Japanese Comic Punk band. I told him I was trying to save some money so I thought I would pass. His response? The cover is only $5 bucks. So of course I agreed, what did I have to lose?

I show up to the venue and there is literally only a handful of people to catch Peelander-Z. As I looked around I noticed I was the only girl. Raines then tells me that he thinks I'll be the ONLY girl to catch the Japanese Comic Punk band! How would I describe them? Think Power Rangers times 5000 plus loud guitars and all over the place drum beats.

I went into this not knowing what to expect and as the music starts, out comes "Red" guy in a rubber suit that looks like a cross between a lobster and a guitar! The show was extremely interactive and many songs included lots of audience participation.....jump rope anyone?? How about some limbo? A mask maybe? How about you jump on stage and play the band's guitar and drums and form an audience band. Yeah that basically sums up the show. Yes the music was a little over the top and a not very understandable, but the experience itself was so fun. Best $5 dollars I've ever spent!

Thanks Raines for dragging my butt out to Jake's!

Welcome Home Eric!

Last night one of my best friend's arrived home from his 3rd tour in Iraq. I honestly can't believe this was his 3rd tour, as it seems like just last year we welcomed him home from his 2nd tour. I definitely hope that this will in fact be his last.

I've known Eric since we were both 19 and went with him to his first Marine Corp Ball. He's been such a great friend to me and has helped me move numerous times....hey when you have a truck that's pretty much a given! He's the life of the party and can put a smile on your face no matter what kind of mood you're in. That being said, here's a photo montage dedicated to my Eric!

Spencer, me and Eric celebrating my 20th birthday, wow how this seems so long ago!

Road Trip to Wichita Falls LtoR: Eric, Spence, Jenny, Me

Eric and I a few days after his Homecoming (2003) after his 1st tour in Iraq...he decided to wear part of Spencer's Halloween costume from the year before!
Halloween '05, Eric learned the hard way what happens when you show up to a Halloween party without a costume....the girls MAKE you a costume! (He was a pretty lady and I was a rollergirl)

My Lil' Bears....

Many of my friends tease me because I'm better at setting other people up than I am finding someone for myself. I've managed to introduce two of my best friends to their husbands, one being Jenny and Spencer and two being Court and Logan. Well Court and Logan aren't quite married yet, but they will be in June. Court and Logan recently had their engagement pictures taken and I decided to dedicate this blog to my sweet friends!

The night Court and Logan finally met was not actually the first night this was supposed to happen. I tried on numerous occasions to coax Court into coming out to check out my friend's band and on each occasion she always had something else going on....or she was just blowing me off haha! So after a few failed attempts, we finally decided that she would come to Rocky's that night to catch the show. As the night went on, I waited and waited on Court to show up. Around midnight I text Court to see if she was in fact coming.....her response? I'm at Wild West and I just met a cute boy. My response to her.....don't even worry about it. So what did Court do? She made a beeline for Rocky's since she knew I wasn't too happy! See all it took was a little tough love to make my Court come to Rocky's to meet her future husband and they've been inseperable ever since!

These two are so sweet together, its obvious to anyone who even spends just 5 minutes with them and it absolutely makes me so happy that I had a hand in all of it. Now for your viewing pleasure, just a few of their absolutely gorgeous engagement pictures.
